Shrink a VHD disk using VhdResizer

I have a Hyper-V virtual machine with a disk of size 127GB that I'm going to shrink to 70GB

First thing shrink the filesystem inside your guest OS, in my machine it is Windows 2008 R2

If you cannot shrink to your target size and the stored data is less than it, defragment the drive then shrink.

After the filesystem is shrunk, shutdown the machine and launch VhdResizer

The user interface is quite intuitive, just set your options and hit resize, you can save the destination VHD to a network share.

The operation will take some time depending on your disk size.
When you're done, use the resized vhd disk in your virtual machine.
